venomoid snakes in colubrid classifides?

djs27 Mar 26, 2004 10:15 AM

Hey everyone,

I keep my pie hole shut regarding sensitive topics like venomoids. If that is what someone decides to work with, it's none of my business. However, this has got me worked up.

There's an ad in the classifides with venomoid snakes for sale in the colubrid and other snake section. Of course, they are listed as harmless animals that anyone could work with. However, what happens when these inexperienced individuals may breed their two venomoids together at some point? It goes without saying that they end up with a lethal animal that they may or may not be able to handle.

Am I the only one with this reaction? Bring on the flames... what ever. I can certainly take it. This just doesn't seem right.

Hey... maybe it was just a mistake in the wrong forum... either way, it's already been removed.

Hello,

Don't worry, I'm not gonna flame you because you're right: venomoids have no place on the colubrid classifieds (I'm willing to bet there wasn't a single colubrid in the ad, unless they are mutilating mangroves and boomslangs now adays), and calling them "harmless" shows a total lack of respect for the animal...of course, cutting them up to render them "harmless" shows an equal lack of respect...
