knoblochi male pic

Jeremy Pierce Mar 26, 2004 10:40 AM

I have never worked with knobs before but the last six months found me to be looking at pics longer than in the past. I recently attended the Kansas City Expo and purchased this pair from Whitacre Reptile. This male type II caught my eye and I wasn't able to pass him up. The female type II is nice as well. I just thought that I would share. Both have eaten and I am very pleased. Thank you Whitacre!

I have a ten year old male that looks like your new babies, and I had not seen one like him for a long time after I got him. Those "type 2" phase are getting a little more available these days....congrats! I think you made the right choice--they would have haunted you if you had passed on them...

I used to breed Arizona Mt Kings, and those need to be 4 or 5 years old to breed, so I waited that long to breed my knobs, but I'm not sure I needed to. It seems knobs might breed at 3. Since I'm already into my breeding program, it's moot for me, but if I were starting out, I'd ask around among the commercial breeders to see how long you ought to wait. You should produce some real screamers from that pair!

Thank you for the info and kind words! How about a pic of that 10 year old? Take care!
