Male with Male(good or Bad?)

Tarentola Mar 26, 2004 12:21 PM

I have 2 male AFT's in different cages....................
The white striped AFT is in a 15g while.........................my juvi is in a 10g.Every book I own says male AFTs will fight to the death if housed together, but has anyone ever ever witnessed this?I think no one has experimented because the first person to publish a reptile book said males will fight each other.........so all breeders say that in there books and don't put males with males.

So is it possible to put 2 male AFTS together, don't get mad I am just curious. Can't a guy wonder?

with a large enough tank you may get two to tolerate each other. I can say this though. When I do cleaning I reguarly will put all my geckos on like my bed so I can clean all at the same time. I have witnessed the males attack each other and bite. You may get it to work but I think your best bet really is to keep them seperated. Small young ones will get along until they start maturing.

They really will fight, and quite viciously. This is not just hearsay. Two males that were not raised together from hatchlings will fight - period. No matter how large the tank is, don't do it. I have witnessed leopard geckos fight outright. And male fat tails posture and approach each other in an identical way to leos. The instinct to fight is really very strong. Just a week ago I was bitten, relatively badly, by a male leopard who mistook me for another leopard.
