ONE LAST THING....(powerfed?)

Chuck420 Mar 26, 2004 12:42 PM

i have a suspicion that he has been power fed, im not sure as i have never owned a ball python before, but his head size compared to his body looks different...such a small head with a rather big body. they told me he was a year and a half to 2 years old, he looks to be about 2 feet maybe 2 and a half but his head size doesnnt seem to go with the body, could this be from being powerfeD?

2-2.5 years old and only 2ft? SOUNDS like he should be bigger. But no one can really tell without a pic and something for comparison (like a can of soda, lighter or something)

If your snake is only that large, he was not power fed, or did not have the correct temps.

I feed two times per week (Thurs & Sun.) on appropriate sized rats, and none of them seem to be too fat, they just grow like Burms. It's hard to overfeed a ball unless they do not have the correct temps, but if given a temp gradient of ,(80-95 F) they seem to grow like weeds, and not get too fat, or at this point, seem unhealthy. I feed 2x's per week for any hatchling, untill it reaches sexuall maturity size, then once a week if that is enough for the species in question.
