Substrate

Hello everyone.

I'm new to keeping reptiles, and just recently purchased my first one, a Rainbow Uromastyx female. She is 2 1/2 yrs old, and has been living at my local lfs since she was small. I bought her a 72gal tank, and have the proper set-up.I haven't brought her home yet, because I'd like to properly set everything up first.

My question is that can I use Silica sand as a substrate in her tank? Or would playground sand be better?

Thank you
Cory

i would say use playground sand, it is cleaned and rounded so there are no sharp edges on the individual grains.

I would use the playground sand. Mainly it's more safe and it won't cause impaction. I've been using it for a couple weeks now and it's a little messy but i personally think it looks good and is easy to clean up.
hope this helps.
