Power Sun Lamp

deejay17 Mar 26, 2004 04:51 PM

I am going to buy 2 of these lamps and was wondering if I should get the 160watts or the 100watts. I am not sure. I am going to be placing them at both ends of my tank. They are $31.00 to $35.00 so I thought I would get two since it was such a good deal. Thanks and God Bless

Why do you want to place the at both ends of the tank? do you have two separate basking areas? The mercury vapor lamps get hot so make sure you use a fixture that is ceramic not plastic. Also monitor the basking area to make sure it isn't too hot.

So if it gets that hot should I only get the 100 watts instead of the 160 watts? I have two basking areas right now, but someone told me that my turtles will more than likely share the same basking area. So I was thinking of just taking out the other basking area. My new baby turtle is currently be quartantined so will not be in the big tank for a couple more weeks. Thanks and God Bless.

100 or 160 watts? Should I take out the other basking area or leave it?

Yes take out the second spot. For some reason they tend to all like to pile ontop of eachother at the basking area.
