Will a fogger electrocute Bud?

girlzilla Mar 26, 2004 05:01 PM

I want to buy the Exo-Terra Mini Fogger- there isn't floor space in his cage for a misting waterfall or volcano or whatever. I thought I could just put the Mini Fogger in his water container (it's an extra-large pyrex casserole dish) and get some more humidity this way. But the warnings on the instructions say. "Do not take out of water before unplugging". WHY? Will this fry my iguana if he touches it? Not to mention me!

Does anyone have this? How does it work?? Nobody at the petstore could tell me, of course. And Exo-Terra does not have a website.

Thanks!

Personally I hate he foggers. And it wont electrocute him...the real problem is the stream that spits out the water...it cuts the water into really fine particles at a great speed to create the mist and if the iguana steps, sits, or rests on the stream it can cause harmful injuries. If you are going for looks, I'd sacrifice looks for iguana health and if you are going for high humidity just buy a humidifier from wally-mart for 30 bucks.

If you don't believe me, buy it, stick it in water, then touch the part where the mist comes out. Trust me it burns and the stinging sensation lasts about a day or two.

Well, that definately makes up my mind. The girl at the store said her beardie "likes to sit on top of the fogger". Poor beardie.

I'm not really going for looks, just for compactness. Bud likes to wander around on the "second floor" of his enclosure, and I don't want the humidifier to take up too much room or for him to knock it over. The "ground floor" of the enclosure is a good four or five feet below where he perches- I don't think the humidity will reach him if I put it down there. Well, back to the drawing board. Or Wal-Mart.
