Nail Clipping

downway69 Mar 26, 2004 05:18 PM

My beardie's nails are quite long and I was wondering what to use to clip them? Are cat nail clippers proper to use or are there special beardie clippers? Thanks

I use a normal human fingernail clipper. Just be careful, you want to just clip the VERY tip (that's the sharp part anyways). There's a whiteish/clearish part under the nail that you want to stay away from. BTW this is much easier to do if your dragon is calm, it's difficult if they have an urge to go exploring and you end up struggling with them.

Cat nail clippers are better than people clippers, because the blades are curved and the nail won't splinter. I have clippers actually made for reptiles, but they are basically the same thing only smaller. You can also try scraping your beardies nails with sandpaper, that may be quicker and there is a less risk of hurting him.
