Details...Details...Details...
In some cases were going back 5 years I'm afraid my memory for titles and names isn't always up to par.
In recent times, I recieve much Asian info from Go asia Pacific, news telegraph co-UK, Radio Australia etc.
I never got funding for direct one-on-one meetings as you Z,
most of my coorespondences were by internet either from home or from my position as collections Manager of Invertebrete Paleontology / Scincidae Paleontology at the now-defunct Graves Museum.
My contact with Nature Conservancy was with the Noumea, New Caledonia location. It was unproductive and Comical. I say this because in coorespondance, Instead of Brian they kept calling me Bula. Sherri and I had a good laugh at the time because of the reference to the Two-head Giant named Bula of Popeye fame. I said at the time I wish I could be Bula in stature as I would effectively be able to fend off the logging equipment from the old-growth forests.
Z, You weren't around when I tried to rally help from members of this forum to get together and link up with some of the larger conservation organizations. At the time the CCA was in it's death throws and there was no direct move in this direction
Of all the people who could have rallied, only 2 responded. It was a most disappointing moment in Skink conservation.
The original plan with Nature conservancy, Greenpeace etc was to link up and establish Corucia research centers on many of the islands to study and monitor the Corucia there. Efforts were made with National Geographic for funding of a research expedition to the Solomons. This was to be piggy-backed with Mulluscan research with Dr. Edward Petuch where the two of us would have been dispatch from the Graves Museum.
I have to stop at this point because my sweet love awaits me and my passion for Sherri exceeds even that for Corucia.
Any more Questions If you must, I'll try to answer later.
Sincerely,
Brian

I'm not asking for specific names and dates here. The information that you gave regarding where you get your news was quite helpful. However, it does seem that you and I run into this issue alot. Perhaps we have different philosophies about the purpose of this group. I'm here to learn and to share information with others. For me, part of learning involves being able to reaserch further the information that I find interesting, or being able to verify information that sounds fishy to me. In the same vein, when I share information, especially information that is new or perhaps controversial, I try to include information about where someone could look to learn more about the topic or to make sure I'm not just blowing hot air. I consider it polite and in general a good practice to have in an information-sharing setting. You claim to have several scientific degrees so should be familiar with the concept of, and rationale behind, citing sources. I won't condescend to you by explaining it further.
"I never got funding for direct one-on-one meetings as you Z"
I just wanted to clarify that I got no funding. I'm job-searching and went to DC recently on my own dime to meet with several organizations that I have an interest in working with.

With respect, You could be less abrasive in your approach- "You claim to have degrees..." (I have 3.5. How about you?) Now really... Was that a nice way to word that? It's no wonder Jean has not responded to your prod post. I was advised not to respond to this one as well.
I do not want to be at odds with you and see another Forum flare-up. I do respect your right to know but can we just be a little civil with each other? I do respect your intellect as well- just to put all the cards on the table.
Sincerely,
Brian

It's unfortunate that you find my honesty to be impolite. I'd prefer to be straight-forward than to mince words. I have tried to be as polite as possible without being dishonest. If you interpret it as rudeness, so be it.
It's also interesting that you feel that it's appropriate for you to post vaguely offensive things, but not anyone else.

I guess Jean has the right approach. I shall follow her lead since peace doesn't seem attainable. I'm sorry, I meant no put downs.
All The Best,
Brian
I'm sorry that you feel the need to stop communicating due to a difference of opinion.
