Ghost Shrimps and Betas

deejay17 Mar 26, 2004 10:33 PM

I have a some Ghost shrimp in a tupperware container right at the moment. They are feeders for my turtles. They are pregnant or having babies but I cant put them in with my turtles because Oregano will hunt and eat every single one of them. So I have a 10 gallon tank with a Beta in it and was wondering if they would be ok in there with it. Thanks and God Bless

Well... the Betta will eat them... but... he can't eat ALL of them... so better off with him than with the turtle?

It may be surprising to you, but the bettas will eat them too. I dropped a rosy minnow in my bettas bowl once by accident, and he ate him! I was surprised at the time, but it turns out they eat just about anything. However, the other poster is right, he probably won't eat them as fast as the turtle will. My ghost shrimp lived a long time in with my turtles, but I have slate and river rocks at the bottom of my tank, so they could hide and get away from the turtles, and the turtles gave up.
