leo eggs

rauko Mar 27, 2004 01:53 AM

I have a male and female leo housed in a 20L terrarium and they just laid eggs last sunday, mar 21. I didn't have an incubator set up and it took me until tuesday night to get them inside one. The eggs seemed to be doing ok until then, I had kept them warm and they were in a moist soil medium. However, I noticed today (friday) that they are now covered in mold. Did I take too long to get an incubator set up or were the eggs already dead when I found them sun night? Too moist? Please help, this is my first experience with breeding. Also, when will my female lay more eggs? She is about 2 1/2 years old right now.

Dont panic yet, your female should lay 5 more clutches of two eggs a clutch. Get ready they come about every 2-3 weeks depending on the leo. As far as the eggs go, dont ever assume they are bad or wont hatch until you are perfectly sure. Try a dip where you take 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. A quick dip in and out should cure up the mold. Another thing, when the eggs are laid take a non-toxic marker and make a small dot on the top of the eggs, this way you know which end is up and you dont drown them, always place them back exactly the way they were removed with the dot facing up.... Good Luck
