My 18 month (approx) GT Dark Morph (AKA "R. CF leachianus" or "Type A" has started to become nippy when I reach into his cage, which coincides exactly with the time that his hemipenal bulges were beginning to develop. Now that they're almost completely developed, he's gotten a little more vocal and downright nasty. On the up side, he is totally fine once out of the cage...even licking babyfood off my fingers.

Any similar experiences?

I've heard this happens quite a bit to GT males when they get to that age (sexual maturity). It sounds like he's decided his cage is his "territory" and you're the invader. Do you have a female in there with him or nearby? That could also possibly be part of the problem.

Luckily my GT (a couple months younger than yours) which i thought was a male, is turning out to be female!

Hi, I noticed a few days ago my female GT approx 18 months startd to get a bit nasty with me. I tried to get her out of her viv and she hissed and lunged at me! Its the first time shes ever done that. I wonder if its just because they're 'teenagers'! P.S. she is definately a female - no preanal or femoral pores.

my leachianus tried to bite me from the start, if i wanted to pick him up. he/she is 8 months old now. once he is outside, everything is fine. =)
