i just noticed that my crestie was laying down really close to the ground in a corner, kind of on the glass and off laying near the soil so i decided to play with it for a few mins and pick it up and lay it on a leaf or something so that it could bask in the "sun".

when i moved it i sat around for a few mins and watched it. then i noticed that what i think is the gecko "vagina" open up. (i got my crestie on xmas eve, and for now i am assuming it is a female but im not sure. i dont see a bulge but i guess things can change...) so anyway the opening opened up and i saw two or three droplets trickle out. ive never observed this before in the few mnths that ive had it so i thougt it was pretty neat.
now do you think it just had to go or it was peeing because it was scared because i was playing around with it and moving it?

i hope to post pics soon. it has grown a lot and i want some opinions about determing sex and whether or not i can do that yet.

thanks.

reptiles in general have two forms of waste- dark, solid "poo" and whitish urate (usually accompanied by liquid). both will exit from the vent. if you have had your crestie since Xmas, you should definitly notice this in the substrate and branches of the cage.

as far as sexing, 3 months is too soon, you will have to wait a while longer.

ive noticed both the dark solid waste and the white more waterier stuff but as far as just seeing pee i havent because i have a soil substrate and it would be impossible to notice and there are water droplets from misting all over the place. but it was cool to watch. im such a nerd. lol.

I was wondering the same thing about mine. yes i have seen the dark poo, yes i have seen the chalky urate that usually comes with the poo, but i have definately seen my crestie pee out a clear liquid, usually when i have him out for a while. hopefully someone can answer what it is!

I'm pretty sure it's mostly water, snakes do it too. I think it's a good sign that the animal in question is well hydrated.
The word for the day is 'cloaca'.
