Andrew,

There are a LOT of variable here, some of them have been answered in previous posts, but I will answer them in a short form here. Have more questions or need to clarify, send me and email and Ill try to help.

Reasons you Drymarchon melanarus may not be eating

#1) It is an animal and can feel pain and STRESS, which it is no doubt haveing right now, especially if it is wild caught. Stress from shipment, STRESS from importation and crappy conditions at importers facilities..STRESS from being handled as SOON as it came to the importer and maybe at your house as well.

STRESS

Recommendations:

#1) First and foremost:Dont pick up the snake other than to clean the cage. He/She doesnt need it, and it causes more stress.
Allow the snake to get in a long "pattern" of feeding. defecating and drinking before handling it unduly. As I said, they dont need it.And it causes them stress.

#2)Provide a suitable hidebox that the snake can hide in and not be seen at all(Reduces stress)

#3) Make sure that the cage you have the snake in is escape proof and contains the following: a)Medium sized waterbowl b) hidebox c)Undertank heat source under roughly 30% of the cage bottem with a hot area of aproximately 78 degrees

#4) If the temps requirements are fine, the snake has a hidebox,ISNT handled or teased and stil wont eat, then it may be internal parasites or the TYPE of food items you are offering it.
So-------------------->Take it to a vet------->Get a fecal wash done to see what type of parasites it may be harboring( With wild caught cribos a good chance exists that he MAY harbor parsites)------>After finding out what it has in it, have the vet treat them with an appropriate medication.

Type of food items

Your snake, being wild caught , may not be used to pre killed nor frozen thawed prey. Movement often ilicits a response. Try rat pups(Alive) and stunned mice. Also chicks, hamsters, frogs(Last resort) may be offered.

Dont give up and above all make sure the snake isnt being hadled, has a hide box and sufficient heat and gets taken to the vet for a fecal wash.

Email mail me if you need any other help, ill be more than glad to answer your questions.

*Cheers*
