green droppings????

A.C.3 Jun 12, 2003 03:40 PM

I have a juvinille beardie, he's about a year old. Lately (for the past week or so) his poop has been greenish and liquidy. The vegtables I usually feed him every other day are romaine lettuce, green beans, cellary, and carrots. Could anyone please help me on what I should do? thanks

It could be a parasite, but I think that it is green from the greens and runny from the water in the lettuce, lettuce doesn't have alot of nutritional value and so not much use in feeding it.

He should be getting greens everyday......dark greens, like mustard, turnip, collard greens.....endive, parsley, kale and other dark greens are nice mixed in too.....romaine is OK but not the best.....I would ditch the celery and get a fecal check done to be sure.

Shouldn't offer carrots too often either as they can cause runny poo. Getting fecel done is always a good precaution to rule out parasites and typically it doesn't cost to much to do it.

In addition to the greens mentioned above, you can feed dandelions (greens and flowers). Kale should not be too often but is safe in small amounts. Swiss Chard, radish greens, beet greens can also be fed once in awhile. The key is a good variety with stables like collard greens, mustard greens, enchive, dandelions and escarole.

As your dragon is a year old he pretty much is considered an adult. He should be eating greens every day with crickets (or other insects) a couple times a week.
