I live in Maryland and my neighbor has a small pond that is home to a large colony of green frogs and a slightly smaller colony of leopard frogs. While over his house today I noticed a frog having difficulty swimming I caught it and noticed that the sides of its body were swollen more then doubling the frogs actual width. The swollen areas allow some light through and appear to be filled with air. Not knowing what to do with it I released the frog but if necessary I could easily catch it again because it is unable to dive below the surface and there are no fish big enough to be predators in the pond. Does anyone know what is wrong with this frog? and should I remove it from the pond? Thanks.
