I have my very first gecko !

mizar 21 Mar 27, 2004 03:00 PM

I just got home with my very first gecko ! My substrate is tile, i buy a under tank heater, i already have a 50 watt light....is the light too much ? And also, today i will not feed him, i'll let him calm down and tomorrow i will feed him...better in the morning or evening ?

He got plenty of hiding place and a nice wet hide. Some pile of rocks for basking. For now he prefer to hide under the large leaf of the hoya plant i put in the cold corner.

His color is kind of lavender and bright yellow.

Any hint or comment ?

p.s. he looks like a little easter egg...lol

Your setup sounds good watch your temps but you should be good. Its better to feed at night and if your feeding mealworms put like 10 mealies in his cage and then tomorrow when you wake up count how many he ate because some do eat their first day some dont.

He's very young and the seller who also breed them, he was nice enough to show me his breeder, said that it was best to avoid mealies for now. Just to feed him small crix. Since there is a lot of hiding place, might it be a good idea to feed him in another container ? How to do that with minimum stress ?

You could just take out his hides or pull the legs off the crickets and put them in a bowl.
