Amiracle Wet/Dry Filter

AdamH Jun 12, 2003 03:41 PM

I have my Fluval 404, but with my 4 ever growing turtles, this filter obviously isnt enough. Im constantly cleaning it.

Has anyone gotten an Amiracle Filter?

If so, how is it? what size do you have? Do you really only need to change it like once a month?

I am planning on buying one if reactions are good, otherwise, i dont know what else to get.

thanks,
Adam

I paid $75 for an Eheim a while back and felt I got a good deal...in relative terms, considering other typical options, it wasn't bad...

However, I think I have bought my last filter. I made one from a 5 gallon bucket and it is AWESOME!!

I got probably $40 in it. I got some parts cheap at a store going out of business, like the pump...but you can buy pumps cheap online that flow a lot more than this one.

check out the page I threw up about it.

The filter you made looks awesome. Do you use it for an outside pond or inside tank? I have been looking for a good filter/pump for the 55 gallon pond I just put in. Do you think that this would work?

I use it in a 55 gallon tank and it works great. It works better than the waterfall type filters (that have a high flow rate).

My tank is inside. You could use this setup outside, but make sure to work something to keep leaves and stuff away from the inlet.

Wow, I had been looking for instructions on how to make one of these for a VERY LONG TIME!!! And I have never been able to find anyone who could tell me how to make it...
After seeing your instructions on Friday, I printed them out, and on Saturday morning I went to the store, bought the parts (I already had a Rio 2100 pump waiting for this) and made myself the filter... I must have spent less than $20 in materials, plus the $25 that I spent on the pump... And this filter is GREAT!!!
Right now I have it on my 8ft stock tank, which is HUGE!!! And it is running just to get the tank ready for my turtles... All I have in it is a bunch of feeder fish that I got on Sunday...
I want to have EVERYTHING running perfectly before I even get the turtles... I'm planning on getting a couple RES and a couple of Yellow Bellies...
THANKS FOR THE INSTRUCTIONS, THEY'RE GREAT!!!

a word of advice...

get it all running and circulating well for a few minutes. Then unplug the pump so simulate a power outage. Leave it for a few minutes and plug it up to make sure it doesn't start leaking and sucking water from your tank...which could be very damaging and dangerous if you weren't home.
