You probably won't like my answer...How much smaller is she than the other leo and how large are both of them (weight if you know it). It is a common occurance for smaller leos to be intimidated by larger ones, and if the male happens to be sexually mature he could be pestering her an aweful lot and really stressing her out. You really should separate the two...besides the fact that you haven't quarantined. If you did separate them and she is alone now and still not eating, some of them take longer than others to get used to a new environment, as long as she's not losing weight (if she's alone) I wouldn't worry too much about it. Also make sure her temps are correct. Also...the female shouldn't be able to see the larger male when they are separated, as she could still be intimidated.

she is always with him when he leaves then she follows him. if he is in 1 hide even though not enough room for her to go in there she still goes in. she shows no remarks of being scared of him....

I don't know why she would follow him around to begin with...maybe she is following him because she is intimidated...I honestly don't know why should be following him. I still think you should separate them since he will try to breed with her before either of them is ready...and that could cause serious health problems for both...but if that's not what her problem is as far as eating she may still just be getting used to the environment and you should completely leave her alone except to put food in the tank.

i am going to stick her into a tuperwear ben sence i dont have a tank and try to just get her to eat again i am going 2 have the to tanks next to each other but SHE will not be able to see reason y is cause i will have paper there and it isnt able to seee through
plz awnser with wat u think

StinaUIUC Mar 27, 2004 07:18 PM

That should be fine for now. Didn't you post a day or two ago that your friend had a tank you could borrow? Anyway...what you are planning on doing is fine... At least until the male becomes sexually mature...in which case he might stop eating if he can smell her and wants to breed...if he doesn't stop eating ever you should still be fine though. If he does stop, then you will have to keep them farther apart so he can't smell her.

cuz i got the breader on the phone saying dont worry bout it cause she is just still getting used to the tank cause she has been moved so much. the past to weeks, and they tank is alot bigger and she isnt used to it yet. then i got u saying take her out she needs to get out of there so she wont be intemadated.. wat shall i do ?

StinaUIUC Mar 27, 2004 07:26 PM

Well...lol...I would just separate them and keep them separated...mostly because of quarantining and not wanting them to breed to early. She may not be eating just because she is stressed from moving...but it could also be because she is intimidated. I think you'd be better off separating them regardless. Besides the fact that it will keep them from breeding to early, you will also be able to monitor her eating and bathroom habits much easier than if she is with another leo. You will also be able to leave her alone more...you'll want to completely leave her alone for a day or two (no food or cleaning the entire cage or touching her or anything...), if she doesn't eat right away. Then after that couple days you can try feeding her again. Sometimes keeping food away for a day or two helps trigger the feeding response when food is reintroduced...plus not bothering her will allow her to settle down more quickly.

Brandon

StinaUIUC Mar 27, 2004 07:49 PM

I read it...I still think you should separate them now...

thanx again

StinaUIUC Mar 27, 2004 07:56 PM

well...since you don't have any way to heat her if you took her out now I would leave her until you do...Once you have a way to heat her I would get her out...they can go quite a long time without eating without too much harm...and not eating for a couple weeks would be less harmful than letting the two breed too early.

kk right now she is sitting on my heating rock and sleeping. so i am going to leave the pc from now on untill later on so they can sleep and maybe she can get some crickets... i dunno just a hope!

StinaUIUC Mar 27, 2004 08:04 PM

Please tell me you didn't mean to say heat rock...heat rocks are bad news... They shouldn't be used for any reptiles as they get extremely not and can cause burns. They may be marketed for reptiles...but they're really not safe. I'm not trying to start an argument with you...god's sake i'm not....lol I'm just trying to let you know...

Pick someones advice and stick to it. Christina is being very patient, and is the only one bothering to reply.

Do whatever you want, believe who you want to believe. I would go with Stina, since she has knowledgeable replies that aren't offensive or demanding you to do things her way.
But if you can't decide you should seriously consider what you're doing.
