so, my little guy is 6 inches long and he just wont eat.Ive tried live pinkies and f/t pinkies and splitbrain pinkies and he wont touch them..The live ones he pushed around with his nose and seemed interested but never ate them..How often should I offer them now, daily or weekly.Im running low on pinkies and I dont like throwing them out so often..When should I start being concerned that he isnt eating? Should I go out and find a frog? We have lots of spring peepers around right now...I dont want him to be hooked on frogs though..Right now Im keeping him in a tub with aspen bedding. The temps are right too.Any ideas?

is to make sure he is 75-85 deg. give him a good drink of water. The next day leave a live pink in overnight. Keep him in a small container. That is what I do and it always works. Well not always. If it doesn't work kill the pink and leave it in overnight the following day. I think a well hydrated warm hog usually eats.(unless he is thinking about or is breeding).

Try these...

PS- use the frogs to SCENT the pinkies, don't give em to it outright. Toads should be out calling as well.

My little girl did the same thing and it was frustrating. Then I happen to drop a pink on the floor and washed off the dog hair (it is everywhere) and tried it with her. Darned if she didn't love it. She hadn't eaten in weeks and decided that she could take washed prekilled pinks. NOT live, NOT beheaded. Had to be washed and dead, but warm. Then she has worked to F/T and just plain prekilled. Now she is a pig.

I was just so worried I thought if I can just get him to eat something so I went up to the lake and caught a few frogs. First I tried rubbing a f/t pinkie all over the frog and put him in a small container but he didnt even react to it at all..so after a couple of hours and the pinkie started getting all dried up I pulled it out and threw in a live little peeper and he lasted about 5 minutes..Maybe now I can slowly wean him onto pinks, frogs are everywhere here so next time maybe I can kill the frog and stuff a pinky in him..We shall see but for now he is a happy hog..Thanks to alll
