NEW GECKOS!!!!!!!!!

ChuUtena Mar 27, 2004 08:58 PM

Well I've been refusing to post, or even read the past two days, so I decided I needed to break my silence with some GREAT news! I went to the All ohio reptile show today with my friend and we came back with some beauties. She bought a leo an a pictus (and those are CUTE) She had an extra tank lying around so I convinced her she needed the little guy. I got two new leos, a crested, and a pretty decent melamine (sp?) rack. It is a 4 tub set up (i'll post pics in a min) the tubs are huge, so I'm going to try to get smaller ones to keep more juvis for quarentining. I'm so excited. The leos I got were $15 and their patterns are awesome. And my crested was $45 and is just gorgeous. I hope everyone else is having as much fun as I am today! I'll post pics in a few! Bye!!!

Thanks! Yeah the striped girl was actually shedding when I bought her, but her stripe was defined enough that I knew she would look good. The tangerine looking girl looks like she will lose most of that black. The rack was a good deal for $150. It had the tubs and the heating already hooked up. So far everyone enjoys it. The pic of the crested isn't so good right now. I'm going to get a picture tomorrow with more natural light. Thanks for looking!!

Thanks! :D Yeah I was pretty confident in how good these babies will grow up looking nice. The woman I bought them from had a ton of albinos, and a few dozen "normals" and those two are what I bought! What thermostat do you recomend? Because this is my first rack, and because I am a paranoid mommy I was checking the temps about every hour. When I brought it home I turned it on very low, it has a dimmer, because I had to go to work and didn't want it to over heat. So when I got home I spent the next few hours slowly turning it up to a better temp. It has the tape down the back which I think I like, because the back half of the tubs are the hot parts, and the front are the cool parts. Thanks again everyone for takin a gander at my babies!

i would suggest as fas as thermostats go either... helix, ranco or GCS has some really nice ones, while i havent used them i think i will soon... if you go with a rheostat (dimmer switch) make sure you have an inferared temp gun so you can change it as needed.....
hold on ill get my husband to explain the difference between thermostat and rheostat

thermostat- automatically controls a set temperature

rheostat-puts out a constant amount of power and will have to be adjusted (once initially set) everytime the ambient room temperatures change
