the only things availiable around here are kale, collards, mustards, acorn squash( and they are slim pickins ), apples, green peppers, carrots, many herbs, alvacado( but they look gross and those you arent supposed to feed often, but i do very occationally in small amounts for varriety, there are several ethnic fruits like cacti pads ( but they look wilted and dryish), strawberries are showing up now, and some very small high priced yellow squash.
I usually make a salad for our little guy and freeze it in ice cube trays ( since he's small enough to only need one cube broke in half twice a day ), but i put all my veggies in it ( except greens ) and then put all the vitamins with a little extra thymin to replace what is lost when green veggies are frozen.. and then get fresh greens to feed with it.
The little guy really digs into his salad .. and of course i would have to run out when the veggies are out of season. I know i had 25 different fruits and veggies in 3 different arrangements so that my percentages would work out. I even used alvacado as 20% of one of the 10% fruits in the one mix. I even made them Box Turtle friendly so i could feed both my turt and iguana the same veggie salad ( expecially since our turt will not touch anything that isn't alive and wiggling *rme* or that she is fed like a baby .. she's spoiled i tell you *lol*) You would be amazed at how much a heap of veggies is compacted when you food process it into basically coleslaw!!
