Fruit Tree Blossoms and Leaves

SouthernBel Mar 28, 2004 06:47 AM

Since I have been taking my big little sweeties outside on warm days they have encountered a lot of new things. One of their favorite is peach tree blossoms. I haven't allowed them to eat many, but I was wondering what you guys thought about it?
We have a pretty nice orchard with peach and apple trees and we also have grape vines. I grow everything organic so there is no chance of any pesticides harming them. I just wasn't sure about nutritional value. Of course they aren't listed on the feed charts. I would appreciate any input!

Surely someone at least has an opinion!

If I had to guess I'd say it was alright. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to eat them. As far as actually knowing though I don't have any idea. Do you let them climb in the trees to get them. I bet they love that. I have fed my iggys peaches and apples and they like them, but I have to cut them up.

I do let them climb in the fruit trees to eat the blossoms, but I keep them on leashes so they don't get too far away from me. I have learned not to even let them in the bigger trees since it is way too hard to get them down if the rope gets tangled
