"New" curly-tail from Turks-Caicos?

Upscale Mar 28, 2004 08:42 AM

I had to go to Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos on business and noticed the curly-tail lizards there were very large, very black and kind of shiney. Very gracefully proportioned and skink-like. This may be some sort of variation unique to this very small island? Does anyone know this lizard or how to go about importing these legally (instead of smuggling them in my shorts or something!) I am very familiar with most types of curly-tail lizards and have several that live in my yard here in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. The ones I saw down in the Turks were the same plain ol brown/grey Bahamian type like in my yard, but the ones on that one island were very different and commonly big ten inch beauties. Wish I had a picture... now I wish I had a few to breed! How to get these? Any ideas?

i would advise you go to the local fish and game office and ask them.they would also be able to tell you if this is a subspecies or even species living only on that island.i hope you get some as it would be great to see a new curly tail in the hobby.
