I was amazed a few days ago, my plains leopard frog was in the water doing what I call the "elusive" pose, where they are hiding underwater from a percieved threat, and the clear eyelids are shut. She was about 4 inches underwater and looked as still as a frog preserved in a jar. I walked by again in about 10 minutes and she was still doing that. I was kind of worried, she looked dead or something, but then she snapped out of it and rose to the surface, gulping air. Fascinating how they can hold their breath for so long. They never cease to amaze me.
