Hi,
I've got a couple of collareds and have had collareds since 1996. I have never had this problem before.
I found my gal Vyggie with a bright red color atop her head, blood I thought. I gently cleaned off the area (sandy) and found no external wound. It was more like bruises. What could have happened? The rocks were unmoved; the other lizard is an old sweetie pie (Wenger is about 8 years old) and not at all aggro. I decided to keep an eye on her since she seemed unchanged in her behavior.
As the week worn on, the red moved. It reminded me of when I got a black eye (golfing story, 'nuff said) and after the first few days, the blood sorta dropped lower on my face and then got reabsorbed. It's been about 8 days now and the red is defintely gone from the top of her head but her neck is very red.
Now, before I haul her over to my super wonderful rep. vet who lives 50 miles away through some nasty traffic...does anyone here have either advice or explanation to offer me? She is eating fine (sucked down a pinky the other day); running around just like usual; pooping fine. Climbs the rocks; suns; sleeps. All very normal. She does seem a little skitish when I reach in to pick her up.
Many thanks,
LindaX
