the movie master and commmander. in it the crew stop on the galopagos (sp) islands. they see galopagos marine iguanas. one of the crew is a naturalist and wants to catch some iguanas to bring back to england. when they are catching them they actually used green iguanas. is that because they are not allowed to touch the galopogos iguanas or couldnt get a permit to touch them. thought that was pretty amusing.

I didn't see the movie. I would bet that it was way too expensive, to get permission or permits to go and shoot in the Galapagos and you are right you cant touch 'em. Those shots were probably done local to the production with a animal wrangler maybe even on a sound stage. They knew they had the wrong animal but didn't really care "who will know?", Only about 20 people(you know what I mean) including you would notice it. I love catching things like that. I need to rent it
