Is this normal?

My adult Male Veiled always looks skinny when he is climbing around or resting but...................when he is sleeping he is a big fat Chameleon.

Whats up with this?Does anyone elses chameleon do this?

When my veiled chamleon is basking, resting or sleeping he looks skinnier and laid out, he tends to puff up when he is active or if he gets annoyed.

yeah, pretty funny, huh? it is AMAZING how they can change their body shape so quickly and so much! They tend to flatten themselves laterally while moving around and when they are relaxed it is their more "normal" size and shape. Then they puff up and may flatten but from the view facing the assumed predator or threat they look BIG. Sort of like a cat. If you have ever watched a cat bristle its fur and turn sideways toward its "threat" (the other cat in the house if you have more than one - my two PLAY like this all the time) it is to appear as big as possible. The difference is that chams don’t puff out their tails! LOL!!

So, yes. It is normal - just continue to be amazed by these creatures
