try taking the water temp up just a couple degrees. take him to your vet and get some opthalmic ointment. mine was the same a few days ago and i took him in, put some ointment in his eyes every few days, and now he's allllll better and asks just like his obnoxious little friend.

Actually, I just have a water heater.

but, may I ask, how does basking help.
My science teacher said it is a growth of the eyelid that bothers the turtles.
He said u can by a ointment from a petstore that will help the eye lids.

They need the heat for a number of things, among which it aids in digestion, it keeps the immune system functioning efficiently, and is necessary for the UVB rays to be converted into Vit D3 (necessary for calcium absorption and a healthy shell). Your turtle needs a basking spot with UVB lighting and a heat source to keep the temp mid to high 80's. If temps are too cool, he is prone to respiratory infections and he won't want to eat. (I would also increase the water temp to about 78F).

The gut-loaded mealworms don't sound like a very balanced diet. Try getting him to eat some pellets like Reptomin (Reptomin Baby if he's a hatchling). He sounds like he possibly could be lacking Vit A as well.

The basking under a proper temp (see above) is necessary for general health as well as a healthy shell.

but i do have UVB, i am getting a new heat lamp today, i got these turtle drops too.

In addition, my turtles never eat pellets, they ignore it.
Also, the mealworms i use to feed my leos, and are fed cereal, oats, and other healthy grain foods. I thought that would be well balance enough, but what other things to feed them. I dont like earth worms, to many parisites.

I don't like to feed my turtle live food, mainly because of parasites as well. But mealworms, even if you feed them healthy grains, are not good as the main food for your turtle (as a treat/in combination with a balanced diet, OK). They are fatty, and their skins are hard to digest. A good pellet, such as Reptomin, would be better to give your turtle. I don't think he's even getting Vitamin A from the mealworms. Just using vitamin supplements to increase the nutrition isn't good. Vitamins like Vit A are toxic if too much is given. It's better if your turtle gets them in his diet. For suggestions, take a look at www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/aquaticdiet.htm and www.turtlepuddle.org/health/turtlefood.html
