Not a beardie but anyone know about Florida Lizards

eva Jun 12, 2003 04:47 PM

My friend found a Lizard around his pool in Melbourne, Florida. Does anyone know what kind it is? The yellow around its eyes is VERY bright in real life. Also, it moves very fast and likes to JUMP.

There a TONS of herp dealers/ importers that run out of Florida. I wouldnt be surprised if this is an escapee. Have you heard of the colonies of spider monkeys and nile monitors that have inhabited the Florida Keys? This kinda stuff happens alot. Animals ascape and run rampid.

They are in Florida. If there are any balisks, they would probably be in Miami around the Airport where just about everything lives because of escaping and or being set loose after being imported.

It kind of looks like a basilisk but the head isn't right. Nice shot though..looks like he's a theif caught in the act.

Also, there is a thread on the forum to use to help identify lizards, called '- Lizards - What Kind?' You can find it right at the top of the list of lizards forums, the third from the top I think it is. Those who frequent there may be able to give better information.
