some of the ppl here dont like my method of feeding my leos once a week, but just incase you dont like it cause u dont understand, or if you just want to kno how it works, then here it is. these were some questions lilroach asked me, if you have ne feel free to ask. ive been keeping reptiles for a long time, and alot of them only need to b fed once a week, so when i got my first leo as a baby i only fed it once a week. so for the first question (at what age do you start feeding once a week?) as soon as i kno there eating, and not sick is when i switch to once a week.
2.what do you feed them every week? (a 40-60 gram leo)
every friday, each leo gets 4-6 silk worms, they ussually goble them up right away. and then when there all gone, i throw in 12 dusted crickets per leo, along with one or 2 of green gelly like, gutload cubes made by flukners farms. this way they dont try munchin on the leos. every other or 2 weeks they get fed a dusted pinky, with less crickets. that is what i do for my full grown male, the smaller ones get a lil less obveously.
3. did they gain weight or lose weight when they feed once a week?
killer is the biggest one i have. hes almost 10 inches and just got done shedding last night. so he is still growing, i kno hes not a tremper giant, cause i got him froma petco. LOL. since i only buy ones that are just old enough to sex, they really only gaine wait. ive never had a problem with wait loss (knock on wood) all my animales, not just my leos, grow very quick, compaird to other ppls animals that ive seen.
how many days after eating do they poop?
i feed them on fridays, so they ussually poop from tues to thrusday.
what are the cage temps?
day time, hottest side of the cage is no more then 90F. and the coolest is around 78F
night time, the entire enclosure drops to very high 68 (absolute lowest)-72 (highest)
how do you heat the cage?
as of right now. my leos are directly above 2 other eclosures, amazon tree boas, and mali uromastyx. there eclosures are heated by ceramic heaters, so the heat from there cages rises and heats the leos. i kinda got lucky with that case. but befor i built the new cages, they were in 20 gal tanks, that were heated by 75 watt sun replicating heat lights, made by exo terra, or zoo med. at nite i just used regular zoo med or exo terra heating pads.
