Stimsons Python Clutch Hatching *Pics*

Stephen Emerick Mar 28, 2004 01:18 PM

I experimented with my last clutch of Stimsons eggs, and low and behold, I'm now a firm believer in letting the mother incubate her own clutch on the dwarf Aussie pythons. Out of a clutch of 17 eggs, by her doing the regulation all 17 hatched. 100 % hatch rate on a clutch this size was pretty amazing and a heck of a lot better than what I was getting using my incubator

Thanks, Stephen Emerick

Nice job. Was going to ask what your dt and nt temps are? Also Humidity, when keeping the stimsons? Same as a Children? I dont think you can get a much better pet python and they look pretty good also.

My bredl's is gravid. I have no idea when she is due. They have been breeding like crazy and she has gotten huge and is laying on her back once in a while. She hasn't shed since I got her. She must have shed right before you sent her to me? I'll let you know what happens.

Stephen,
It's great to hear that you went with maternal incubation. I have always been an advocate of this incubation technique. I have used it many times and have never been disappointed. The only requirements being keeping ambient humidity relatively high and maintaining cage temps within range. I would be curious as to the ambient temps and humidity you maintained and did you happen to record any coil temps. Great job.
