An adult corn will be comfortable in a 20 gal. They can live up to 20 years with proper care (12-15 is average) and their length is something like 3 feet I am not absolutely sure...

I would go with a 30 gallon long or breeder tank as a minimum, and i have yet to have a fully matured corn that stays under 4 feet or five for that matter. when i had hercules he was right over the 6 foot mark and his girly athena was about 6 inches shy of that. they are robust hardy and awesom snakes, they put up with a lot of mistakes by there owners and once tame i really dont think they will ever bite you.
good luck

The next time the shuttle lands, lets all get dressed up in ape suits and charge at the astronaughts yelling and ranting. That way they can try to figure out where they took a wrong turn.
As you can see I corrected myself to say 4 feet...you have some very large snakes there I might say...the average is 4-5 feet...and I am sure a 30 gal. would be perfect but correct me if I am wrong I have heard a 20 gal. is fine...I am not saying dont get a 30 gal. i am just asking a question.

Sure you can cram them in a 20 gallon tank, but 2 feet by 10 inches just aint cutting it to me. 20 gallon is bare minumum. there are not territorial animals they roam in search of food, sure they hide all the time but how would you like to live in a 500 squarere foot house for the rest of your life. if you only have one or two snakes i would says take it to a 55 or 75 gallon tank, but when you end up in excess of the breeding populations that some people have tube are better. i want to see my snakes and how they are enjoying there habitats. i used to have 8 75 gallon tanks in my house with kings, corns, and milks in them but i am down to three snakes for now due to some medical problems i have been having. well anyways to each his own, i just cant stand people who would want to cram even a 4 foot snake into a 20 gallon tank. unreal

Just to let you know 20 gal. are 30"x12"x12" but yeah mine is only a young one...I will move up in size in tank, I was just asking because a lot of care sheets say they can live in 20 gal. and I even read a really bad one that sad the bare minimum is a 10 gal...which is ridiculous.

My general rule is snake length x 2. Hence 20 gal long (30 inches) up to 60 inch snake. To me a six foot corn is way above average. A normal 4-5 foot snake can live in a 20 gal just fine.

yeas a five foot snake can live in a 20 long tank, but then you run into obesity and life span of the snake. why does it seem everyone is so cheap these days? just buck up and buy a bigger tank or custom make one. i mean i paid 80 bucks for my 40 breeders and those are more than adequate for my corns.

I hope you live in a warehouse. Unfortunatly my house isn't big enough 19 40 gal tanks. Maybe I should quit being so cheap and just buy the whole block of houses. Or better yet maybe you should get a little more experience before you start telling people how to keep their snakes. Have a super day.

Scratch the part on experience. I know you've been around a while. I just get offended when people start degrading people on this forum. Not everybody that keeps snakes in 20 gal tanks is cheap. Maybe juast maybe some of the people on here are a little smarter than people give credit.

I am not talking about the people who have 20 or so snakes if i had that many i would keep them in a rack system but the floor space would be a bit more than that of a 20 gallon tank. i voice my opinions as that opinions. i have three and i have had as many as 10 at one time. i have a large room that i keep mine in so i guess that works out to my benifit. well anyways i am not trying to start and arguement here so i am going to stop now

Average legth i would say is around four feet but they can get up to 6 feet long. I don't know the average but i know i many people with corns in the 1-15year age bracket but i think the record is 32years or something close to that.
a 20 gallong long is a good size for an adult corn although a specimen on the larger side-closer to 6 feet- may need a little more space like a 40 gallon breeder tank

I gotta say I have never had a corn stay under 4 ft so I think average is bigger. But who knows. Any I have had over 3 yrs are 5 ft plus. I wouldn't, with that size, go with a 20long. Personally I put a snake in an enclosure big enough that they are stretched out totally using two sides....meaning length plus width equals at least the length of the snake. Corns are active enough that they should have the room. They live 20yrs or so.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

So your saying, 20 gal 30 12 = 42. So anything over 42 inches should be in a larger tank? Sounds reasonable to me.At what age do most of your snakes reach 42 inches?
