Well just like the guy below I was out looking for garters and things. I found a total of 5 garters in a 30 foot radius. I was very happy, they were all easterns and what looked to me as all dudes waiting for the chicks. The first 2 I found were slithering around in leaves near a log. I had no chance in catching them so I just watched for a while. Then I almost stepped on a big one curled up ready to strike. I lightly pinned his head down and when I turned to grab my pillow case he got away. I was slightly disapointed but I knew I could find more. I went down to the creek that was about 15 feet from the big Garter to look for salamanders and wait for everyone to calm down. I found 2 salamanders and a big crayfish. After finding the salis I went back to my original position to find one of the small guys staring up at me with his friend close behind. When I bent to grab one the other snapped my finger. Enough of that I wanted to find the biggie. I went 10 feet to where I saw the big guy run to. I bent down and heard rustling behind me. Slowly I turned to find a slightly smaller Eastern slithering away. I took pursuit and started a hectic chase. He took me around a tree, under a log, crossed the stream 3 times until finally when he came up to the sandy bank I managed to get him. I put him in the pillowcase and marched home. I put him in a rubbermaid so I could pay another visit to his neighborhood to get some dirt, moss and hopefully food. Didn't find any food. I am hopeing tommorow I will catch some fish.
I hope you enjoyed wasting 2 minutes of your time reading this...
