Blood regurging water.

fishkiller Mar 28, 2004 05:37 PM

I've taken my blood out of the cage and her head was facing downward and she spit up water.I've gotten info on this and was said she must have just drank some water, which turned out to be the case because I had saw her come out of her bowl.Just recently my big red female has done the same thing, regurged some water and she was hard to get a hold and while she was huffing and puffing when I was trying to grab her she blew water out of her nose. Now I don't think she has a RI but I think she might have gotten water in her lungs possibly, because now she shounds all gurgly sometimes when she hisses. Is this possible.I'm taking her and my sarawak to the vet this Tuesday, but wanted to see other peoples opinions, because I haven't been to this vet that I'm going to.Hopefully they know what they are doing and not just blow anything off. Thanks for any replies.I'll let you guys know what the vet says on Tuesday.
Thanks, Ethan

I have had some of mine from time to time spit up water i think its just a case of picking them up at the wrong time just after a large drink of water and they can drink a lot at one time.

hope this makes you feel better. Joe.......

The exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I thought for sure my Sumataran Red had a RI...took him to the vet, paid for xrays, stool test, etc. He was fine. He spit up some much water that I thought he was going to die...he has been fine ever since and not repeated it.

Ethan, I'm not an expert but I'm sure its possible. If the snake still had water where it could be regurged then if they started huffing and puffing it could very likely be expelled into the lungs.. sorry I couldnt be of more help..

No really good signs of respiratory infection, but she swabbed the mouth for a culture sample and took a fecal sample. She did hear the weezing when she was breathing so she did want to start her on shots one time a day with something that starts with a b, I can find out if anyone wants to know, its what I see everyone using though. She was saying if it was a bad RI they also do a flush of some sort.I got to do the shot there, seems really easy but she was holding the snake. My snake didn't like getting man handled by the women vet.She was hard core, I let go of my snake and jumped back she stayed with her and got pooped on.Man my snake is very strong with big teeth.Well I hope everything goes good especially after a healthy bill of $160.I still think she got water in her lungs because when she was squirming away she spit up some water and also some water came out of her nose. Also every since then she started sounding a little different when she hisses.

you mean Baytril I assume... Im not sure about that helping get water out of the lungs although I would have to idea about how to go about that.. i assume the baytril would help prevent getting an infection while the water is in her lungs and shell eventually puff it up?
