Do all malis turn black or darker with age?
thanks
I do not believe most Malis turn black, at least judging by the response I get from mine (which did turn black). I am not sure if they all get darker as they age. I think it just depends on the animal. I am sure others will have more concrete responses to your question.
Sorry I could not be of more help!

According to Doug Dix all male malis end up with black heads and varying amount of yellow, from full body and tail, to nearly solid black like the one in the post above...he says females tend to darken with age, usually ending up some shade of tan or brown with dark magohany heads and tails. Some females turn black and yellow like the males...while this happens occasionally in the wild, Doug says something about captivity seems to cause a higher percentage of females to turn into male mimics under captive conditions...Check out his info. on malis on his website...
