kurma Mar 28, 2004 10:06 PM

one of my female recently laid her first clutch of eggs, they have now turn yellow and modly. I suspect its just its her first clutch and they are infertile. But is there a way to inhibit the growth of mold? Also had they beed fertile would this might have been a problem as well? I mean to good eggs mold often?

Mold is usually present because of the infertility of the eggs, or the zygote/embryo died. If they are yellow, that is also another sign of infertility, as well as soft water balloon like shells.

If they were healthy, and living, mold would be present because of too much humidity. If this happens, wipe as much as you can off with a Q-tip, and surround the egg with a fine layer of Athlete's Foot Powder.

Hope this helps,
