parazap is an all natural supplement that's meant to treat parasites and stimulate appetite...there's a website...I think its www.parazap.com but i'm not sure if that's right...I think it describes how it works on there.

"Q: What are the ingedients?
A: Para-Zap is a unique combination of several natural ingredients targetted towards specific problems. Two of the main ingredients are wormwood and black walnut. Wormwood has been used medicinally to expel various types of intestinal worms for over 3500 years. Black walnut works against tapeworms, but is included because it's one of the mildest and surest laxatives, causing no nausea, irritation, or pain. The idea is to kill the worms/eggs, and then expel them."

it names two ingrediants... ima look and see if i can find info on em

wormwood-Medicinal Action and Uses---Tonic, stomachic, febrifuge, anthelmintic.

A nervine tonic, particularly helpful against the falling sickness and for flatulence. It is a good remedy for enfeebled digestion and debility

http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/w/wormwo37.html#seamed
it does however mention the ridding worm worms farther down from someone in 1772...... but suggests father down in s sub family of the plant it works well in scurvy and hypoconfriacle patiens

check out third paragraph down http://www.ghorganics.com/Wormwood.html

this one is the history but very entertaining... especially the egyptian pain part LOL

okok now black walnut....

Black Walnut Uses & Scientific Evidence For
Black Walnut is said to effectively kill more than 100 types of parasites, although there is no scientific evidence to support these claims. Black Walnut is also used to treat acne, thyroid disease, colitis, eczema, hemorrhoids, ringworm, sore throats, tonsillitis, skin irritations, and wounds. The hulls are used as a mild laxative.

lol...went a little crazy there didntcha?...hehe it has other ingredients as well...the listing on the container is juglins nigra, artimisia absinthium, syzygium aromaticum, and tebebula impetiginosa...I have no idea what any of them are...or which two are the two trees...lol but those are the ingredients. I figure it couldn't hurt to use it...the fact that there's no scientific evidence supporting claims just means that no ones really ever done a study on it to see, that doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't work. I dunno...I think the stuff smells good...lol

tonic? not toxic? what's so bad about that?

ton·ic n.
1. An agent, such as a medication, that restores or increases body tone.
2. An invigorating, refreshing, or restorative agent or influence.

www.dictionary.com

sounds good to me. and it does smell good! it smells a bit like herbal tea and cloves. which is something i can kinda liken it to...a zillion people drink herbal tea, and the majority of the stuff that is in it i have no idea what it is or how it is going to affect my body (stimulant? sedative? could do anything.) we drink chamomile and we know it relaxes us...peppermint tea is great for an upset stomache...we eat garlic because we know it keep our immune system healthy...

Where do you buy this stuff?

Think I should give it a try for our female before I take her to the vet? She has eaten maybe 10-15 meal worms total since the 1st of Feb. She was eating about 10 per day before that. She continues to drink and lick calcium. When she doest sneak a mealworm she still has solid poop. She still acts normal, but doensn't have her "attack" instinct for the worms anymore, she completely ignores them.

Is this normal winter hibernation? She weighed 64.9g two weeks ago, and is now 63.5g. That is so minor of a change, that a small drink of water can even that out. At what weight loss should I worry?

Anyone think I should try this parazap?

Matt

StinaUIUC Mar 29, 2004 12:50 PM

That's not a huge difference in weight...its a little over 2% of her of her body weight. That's not good though... Have you checked the temps in her cage? If its too cold that may be why she's not eating...however I don't think she should have lost that much weight if it was temps... That kind of weight loss makes me think parasites, but I'd take her to a vet before you give her anything...however getting the parazap (you can get it on the website) shouldn't hurt, as long as you go to the vet and get a fecal and such done BEFORE you start using it. If its parasites I would imagine it would help any wormer he gives her work faster and more effectively. Just make sure if you get it not to start giving it to her until after you take her to the vet.
