funkymonkey Mar 29, 2004 03:11 AM

Right guys, I am sure ou are all getting bored of hearing about Grumpy, But i am really confussed.

As you may or may not know, she was gravid i think, Very fat, Colouration all down her sides, but nothing happened,
She started getting smaller and lost her gravid colours.

I was away for the last week from them, and returned yesterday to see her gravid colours are back again and she is putting the weight back on and munching big time.

now i am really confussed and have no idea what to expect...

best be safe you think and put the laying box back in ???

taaa for your help in advance.

You can probably wait a couple weeks, until her appetite diminishes, and she starts digging again.

Best of luck. Be sure to supplement all her meals with extra Calcium!

Cool,

Will get that back in tonight then.
Has calcium on her dinner every day. and is eating really well, Hand fed her 4 large crickets last night,

Will keep an eye on her and see what happens. thing is she never started digging around last time, just seemed to fade away colour wise and get smaller,

these little lizards certainly keep you on ya toes dont they.

on a slightly different note, Dave is still a little thin, I have read that mealworms are good for bulking lizards up a little but not as their main diet,

I have ordered some but am i on the right impression that you have to pinch their heads to sort of kill em other wise they can cause damage to the lizards ??

ta for your help guys.

When I had sickly lizards, or small geckos. I have not done that for quite some time, and have never had any problems at all. I feed superworms, as mealworms are so much smaller.

If you want, wax worms have a higher fat content, and are relished my most of my lizards. They will put some fat back on skinny Dave. you can pick them up at most bait/tackle shops.

than superworms, Mine love superworms and as Johneee said they are much larger.

I have never worried about the heads either, lizards seem to know how to eat them, they bite and wait a minute, I guess for the worm to weaken, then chew it up !

I myself have been pinched on the fingers by then though, little buggers ! But I lived to tell ya about it , ahhahaha

eating 4-7 in one sitting, but most oftren times i find them regurgitated around the tank, maybe that was to do with how thin they were though.

I also have found them to regurgitate from overeathing superworms, more often than crickets.
