New to Leopards...

windyj420 Mar 29, 2004 09:56 AM

I aquired a pair of leopards and a single male this weekend from a friend of mine who is moving across country and couldnt take them. I have a beardie and have had many other reptiles, so I know the basics. I just need to know what everybody does for heat and what size would be good for the two and then the one by himself? Do they need light or just heat? Thanks in advance....

Hello,

Congats on the new leos, and good for you for taking them in when your friend couldnt. For two, a twenty gallon long would be perfect, and for the single male, at least a ten gallon tank. I like to use undertank heat pads instead of lights, since they are nocturnal and dont like a lot of light anyways, plus they are not real big on basking, they would rather hide and absorb belly heat from the heat pad. Make sure it gets about 90 degrees on the warmest spot. Hope this helps and good luck!
