another question...could my turtle get lonely/bored ? He is by himself, and i get nervous sometimes that he might want to be seeking other turtles or something...

bored,definitely.
lonley....maybe.
sliders are only loosely social at best, but lots of people think they do better in small groups.
the important thing, i think, is LOTS of room to swim and explore. the best thing you can do to combat his boredom is increase his cage size as much as possible.clever decorating can help too
add caves and multiple basking sites and varying depths in the enclosure
give live foods ocassionally so she has something to chase.
vary the diet.
make him "work" a little for treats
but will it hurt to get him/her a companion? No, provided there is adequate space for both.

I read someone's else post stating that

turtles do NOT get lonely by himself.

they care about their food, water quality

spacing, basking.... etc.

If you have enough space for 2 then go for it..

just keep in mind they grow to 7-10 inches and need

huge tanks/pond later in their life.

I used to have a painted turtle that would try to mate with everything in the tank. I caught him humping a large rock a couple of times, and there was a good sized sunfish that he used to do the claw vibrating thing with. Maybe try giving him a fish that is too big for him to eat so at least he can interact with something in the water.
