What kind of lightning do you have in your WD terrarium?

CokeOfMan Mar 29, 2004 10:49 AM

I don't really know what to get. Should I get two UVB tubes and put them on different hights? Do I only need one at one height? Does the WD need UV light all the time, or only when baksing? Or maybe a Zoo Med Powersun and a UVB tube? And also how do you best keep the temprature in the terrarium?

Thanks In Advance

If you get a powersun you won't need a tube UVB light as well. The Powersuns produce both heat and UVB. I used a pair of 160's in my 350 gallon cage and three 275's in my dragon room.

FYI, I don't keep dragons anymore (having a human baby in a few weeks), and you should see the change in your electric bill! Ours is a quarter of what it was when we had the dragon room running. I do miss those funny little faces tho.

Yes powersuns are a good idea! I use one in my 350 gallon and thats it. The colors it gives off though make everything look kind of yellowish though. So maybe some weaker pointless lights just for color.

Dsngrl I had no idea that you got rid of your dragons? Maybe I missed that thread. Congrats on the future baby! Better be a boy, then you could own reptiles again later! Do you have any reptiles or ambhibians now?

Yes, I got rid of my male in September. He was adopted. My two females both died last summer, both with egg laying problems. The first girl was just too small I think, and Tiger just never laid hers, which I don't understand why since it was her 4th clutch. It would have been her first fertilized clutch. And yes, they had both gone to the vet, and my idiot vet always told me that they were fine and healthy and would lay there eggs soon.

I am having a boy and he better like reptiles

I still have a female bearded dragon, two red eared slider turtles, three fire-bellied toads and a ribbon snake.

I never knew your 2 females died, and that was a while ago. I wonder why I never saw that, that really sucks. I hope the male is in a good home. I also hope the rest of your reptiles do well, I See why you got rid of the water dragons, they take up a lot of room. Anyways, how many months are you?

I'm six months along

The dragons did take up a lot of room, and feeding them took up a lot of time and money...it was just too much. Maybe I will get more dragons when the baby is a little older.

i have a 75 gal tank, i am using a 160 watt caputure the sun uva/b bulb and a 260 watt ceramic heat emitter on a rheostat and that keeps the tank warm as i could ever want it.
