Mating behavior

ChiChiLeo Mar 29, 2004 04:10 PM

ok,

i put my female in my male's cage yesterday and he immediately came charging at her and started biteing her...then she bit him back but then i split them up...after that my male started to flicker his tale at her to see what sex she was.....then he started to look interested in her and started following her around the cage and nipping at her tale....everytime he touches her she kind of walks away...this morning i looked in the cage and they were in the same hide box but i could see she had a couple of very small scrathes on her tale....i just want to make sure this is normal behavior.....if not please advise....please send me a reply as quickly as possible so i can fix this problem if it is one....thanks,

-thor

Completely normal, the first time I watched my pair mate i was in tears it seemed so violent. But I have heard stories that were worse with tails dropping, and gashes in the back. Seperate them as soon as your sure they have "done the deed" some neosporin on the cuts will help them heal faster..

sounds normal, shes just not quite ready for him, he will chase her until she is, i wouldent worry to much about her, just keep an eye on any injuries and keep them clean.
have fun!
