B&W Ball Python

JaredHorenstein Jun 12, 2003 06:27 PM

Well I have not shown pics of her in a while so I figured I throw a couple up for the forum...

She was born solid B&W and as she aged she went through some pretty intense color changes....here is a sequence from hatchling to adult.

Here she is next to a normal animal for comparison at 8 months of age...she has started to develope a light yellow color along her spine.

Here she is at about a year and 5 months.....NEON yellow & black.

Here is a pic taken 6-25-02....almost 1 exact year ago. she was going thru an odd change around this time....she got very dark and looked almost completely irredescent.

ANd here she is today........looks like she is going back to white.....it is begining to replace the yellow in parts of her body.

Thanks for posting this sequence, I remember that top photo of yours from a while ago, & have been really curious about this snake since then. It's really cool to see not only how she looks now, but the process of the gradual change in her color. Thanks for the series of pics! Have you come across any others like her? Is she 'axanthic' genetically? Bred her?

Jared,

I remember when you posted that pic. It's amazing the transformation - does this thing think it's a chondro??

Too bad it could not look the same as an adult. It was the most spectacular hatchling I had seen in a while.

She is the only one I have ever seen......there have been others that looked "kinda like her", but she is the one and only!

I bred her last year and she slugged out...so she took this year off and next year i will be that much closer.

Hopefully in 04 we may see another B&W.
