veiledcham Mar 29, 2004 04:31 PM

I have a veiled about 8-9 weeks old in a 24Lx24Wx36H screen cage. It's getting how now and the temperature in my room is about 82-87 degrees is that too hot?

Yep. Too hot. For Chams that young, ideal temp is mid to high 70s ambient with an up to 85 degree basking spot. For babies, you really don't even need
a basking site. They overheat quickly and die.

Adult Veileds can tolerate 80s ambient temps and hotter basking site (90-95).

Signs of overheating include gaping mouth, laying on cage bottom, and
dehydration. Oh, and death.

What are your setup/care specs? (watering/feeding/lighting,etc.)

I feed him 2 times a day as much as he will eat and I dust only the first feeding. I have 3 reptisun bulbs and a 50 watt basking light. I mist him 4-5 times a day. I dust with miner-all and repcal herptivite.

You may want to ditch the basking bulb for now, but other than that it sounds like you're doing everything right. Just watch the temps and Best of luck!
