Help! Moving concerns

kestrelgoddess Mar 29, 2004 06:35 PM

I will be moving from California to St. Joseph, Missouri in June, and bringing my 2 ball pythons and 2 leopard geckos. I have been trying to find legal information about owning reptiles in Missouri, and was wondering if you know if Missouri classifies ball pythons as "dangerous" reptiles (since they can, once in a blue moon, grow to 6 feet long).

In addition, I have another question about moving with them. I will be driving from California to Missouri. My only concern is that the person I am traveling with is petrified of my snakes and refuses to spend the night in a hotel room with them. I am very concerned about my babies' safety and comfort, while at the same time desperately need to save money. In June, are the night-time temperatures high enough (or too high?) that the snakes and geckos could spend the night in a car with the windows cracked open or a stock trailer? Again, I will absolutely not do anything detrimental to their well being. They're my children!

Thanks!

Ya know, I can't really help you, but anyhow:

If you don't flaunt your snakes, noone is going to come and take them away before you are able to find out the legal info, if the search does in fact take you that long.

I am not familiar with anywhere that designates any non-venemous, constricting reptiles under 12ft dangerous. Either it is a ban on exotic reptiles all together or on those that are significantly larger.

Then again, I am no lawyer or politician and I don't live anywhere near where you need the info.

Good Luck anyway.

The summers in mo. can get pretty hot with humidity levels. I dont know if you will actually be able to leave them in the car without worry. I know BP's are from africa and can handle some extremes but it sounds like your alot like me and dont like risking it. not sure on the species restrictions.
