Am I feeding him too much?

Chameleon996 Mar 29, 2004 06:40 PM

My beardie is almost 4 months old. He is about 4-5 inches STV. There has been a measurable difference in his size since I got him.

I feed him 8 - 10 crickets three times a day and he will eat all the greens that I give him. I'm sure that if I gave him more crickets he would eat them. He kind of does this little happy dance when he sees the cricket cup.

Should I be feeding him more?

General rule is feed all the crix he can eat in 10 minutes 2 times a day. Once he gets older you can cut back.

At the height of my BDs appetite he could easily eat 40 crix for 1 meal.

give him as much as he can eat in a 10-15 mionute period 2-3 times a day.

After reading an old post from the gecko forum, I highly recomend dusting crix with the t-rex sup at every feeding. If you want, you can also use the t-rex VGF on the salad and reduce or eliminate the crix.

I feed my dragons as much as they want daily really. They have salad almost two times a day depending on the dragon, some of them will eat enless amounts of it and some just eat some of the salad. With crickets, my younger dragons eat all they can, I have three that will eat almost 50 crickets a day all the time. My adults will pig out one day, and not eat for like two days or so. Two of my adult males are not really eating anything but salad right now because of breeding. But I make sure my dragons are always fat. So, you could try feeding him more and see how it goes.
