Hi

No, you are not going to take her back, there that pressure of making that decision has been taken off your shoulders.

Don't give up on her that easily, these gecko are worth the effort and time we put into taking care of them.

You really need to calm down a relax and just give her some time. She will calm down a relax at her own pace, but you just need to hold on and give her time.

We now that you are concerned and worried and so is everyone when they get a new gecko.

We will all be here for you to vent any frustrations out with, and yes, waiting for her to get settled in and comfortable is hard to do, but you just really have to give her, her own space and she will settle in when she is ready.

It is like the story of watching the pot boil, as long as you are watching it, it won't, but as soon as you stop it will.

Another thing to think about, is that animals can sometimes pick up on there owner moods, for example- when you are stressed, worried, hurt, sad etc..

Just give her a couple weeks or so to settle in, she will.

Hi

In my personal experience with all of my geckos, of which I raised them all from baby's, I have found that they don't really get super stressed out like you may think. They may get a little stressed at first with some, but nothing worth panicking over.

I have always personally held every one of my baby's the first day I had gotten them, and found that they started to calm down pretty fast.

Let me tell you a little story, I once went into a petstore and the manager was taking care of the reptiles at that moment and I asked to see a couple of the baby geckos, and so the manager got them out for me and they were really restless in her hands and kept trying to get out of them. I then asked the manager if I could hold one of them and she said okay, but be very careful and hold on good. I took one of the geckos from her and held it gentle and even opened up my hand to let it crawl from hand to hand and it did so calmly and then it just settled down in my hand and I tell you the manager could not believe how good it was with me. As soon as I handed the gecko back to the manager to hold the other one, the gecko I was holding got wild with her again. I held the other one that was wild with her also and the same thing happened for me again and she couldn't believe it.

All I did was to hold them and talk calmly to them and I felt so much love inside of me for them and I think that they could feel that coming from me and knew that I really cared.

Just something I thought I would share with you.

Just relax...her stress should be decreasing now that you have her alone. Give a week or so...if she doesn't start eating by then, then you can start to worry...but until then just relax...she's just getting used to her new environment.

Brandon,

I know that this is going to be hard for you, but trust me. These geckos are one of the most heariest reptiles, if not the heartiest.

They can go for a week or so without food. Do this. Take all the crickets out of her cage. Give her a few more hides. And leave her alone for a week. Then throw some crickets in there, and leave her alone. Do this for a few days, until she comes out all on her own.

Trust me,

I'm glad you have them separate regardless of your parents...its so much better for them. Your parents will get over it...and your leos will be much better off because of it. As far as how your girl is doing (what's her name btw??....lol) try to leave her completely alone for 2 days...tongight make sure there is no food in the tank, make sure it's clean, put clean fresh water in, and make sure the humid hide has plenty of moisture...and then for 2 days COMPLETELY avoid the tank except to make sure she has water. On the third day just put some dusted feeders in the tank for her...that should really help her settle down and get her appetite going. Don't do anything else to the tank except to put the feeders in. If she eats them right away, give her as much as she can eat, and then you can clean her tank that night and start trying to feed her daily. If she doesn't eat them right away, go ahead and leave them overnight and clean the tank in the morning whether she eats any or not (make sure you count what you put in and what you take out!). If she eats start trying to feed her daily. If she doesn't eat, then do the same thing again. Let me know if that makes sense...lol Just relax! I'm sure she'll start eating for you!

Hi

Here is some thoughts for you. I named some of my geckos by a pattern I may have seen on them, for example - one is "crescent moon" because she had the shape of a half moon on the back of her kneck pattern, I named one "Bullseye" because on his back he had a dark brown circle, then inside that circle there was a circle of white and then inside that white circle there was a brown spot and that mad me think of a bullseye.

Then there were some geckos I named because of there personality's, for example - "curioso" because he is just so curious about everything, "hideaway" because he always liked to hide under his papertowel substrate, "pitch" because she looked like she had a pitch fork shape on her head. Then there were other names I used, because they just sounded right for that specific gecko, for example - "sprite", "squirt", "smokey" and so on.

Just some idea's for you to think about.

With what I've seen, they seem to get very stressed out by the crickets being constantly in there. I'd just take them all out and leave her be for 3-5 days, then try to feed her. Some of my older geckos wont eat if I've left anything in their tank from the night before. May it be one superworm, or a cricket, I take it out, and they eat like mad the next day.

I wouldn't leave her for 3-5 days...since its already been a week since she's had a decent meal. I'd take all the crickets out tonight, make sure the tank is clean and stuff like I said before, and try putting crickets in again in three days. Is she in your bedroom or somewhere where there isn't much "people traffic?" If she's in your room you might be able to help calm her down by putting a towel or something over her tank...otherwise just try to stay away from the tank except to see if she has water once each day. When you put the crickets in, start with just one, and drop it in trying not to disturb her too much, if she goes after it right away, just keep adding crickets till she stops...if not, put 5 or so in there and leave them overnight.

Three days does fall inbetween 3 and 5 right? Thought I was mistaken!

Just leave her be, Brandon. That's all I can tell you.
