I just wanted to tell you I appreciate your honesty, concern, and help.
I read through the entire Leopard Gecko Manual last night and I couldn't believe some of the information I read. I think you are right. I should have bought the book from the get go. I have read so many posts in here that contradict what the book says and I wonder if anyone reads the book.
You can use sand for adults and they could get impacted but it is not the norm. Just use a real fine sand. I used to use sand for my adult male and he loved to dig in it. I took it out because of the horror stories I read in here.
Also you can house other lizards with Leo's but it states clearly that you need to be cautious and some lizards cannot house with others just because of their temperments or personalities.
There was so much more. ALl the taboo stuff I read to NOT do in here the book states clearly what is safe and not safe.
There is some information I couln't get from the book that I have gotten in here. But I think a person does real good to pay attention to posts to find out who the more nowledgable people are.
I am just a bored house wife who fell in love with her sons pets. My husband thinks it's great I have a hobby. I enjoy coming in here and reading the stories and mostly checking out the picture.
I will certainly keep you posted on how my adult normal fairs. I think she will be ok. It will just take time for her. I did put a new hide/with water dish in her tank. I know I shouln't make changes but the feed dish she had was not working so I used her water dish for the feed and got this new hide that looks like a rock with a dish in the top. Way cool. She came out, checked it out and even took a drink. Unfortunatly this happened as I was showing my house and the realitor was so facinated and went right up to the tank to say hello. I told her kindly that we needed to exit the room. The Leo was adjusting. She was cool. But I noticed "Pug" went right back into her moist hide when we walked out.
She will get there.
A big thanks again!
