Are mashed potatoes safe for iguanas to eat?

i wouldnt think so... not a white fleshed potato with butter milk and salt in it... now if you boiled or baked a sweet potato and mashed it up i dont see where there would be a problem since it is one of their recommended foods

But the common ways both include animal protien which means NO.

Mixing in of butter, milk, cream, sour cream, chicken broth all rule mashed tatos out as a safe food.

heh... I wasnt planning on putting salt, butter, and gravy on them... haha... although that strikes a somewhat comical picture in my head of my iggie sitting down for Thanksgiving Dinner.

I dont know how everyone else makes mashed potoatoes... but im just talking about getting some potatoes... boiling them... mashing them.... and then cooling them.... no butter, cream, milk, etc... involved.

Thanks!

And I agree. It's also good served as grated raw.
